Join the American Lung Association’s NYS Children’s Asthma Initiative on May 9th, 2024 from 8am-9am. Dr. Feldman will review the role of anxiety in asthma self-management. He will cover both the adaptive and maladaptive components of anxiety.
Dr. Jonathan Feldman is a Professor of Psychology at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology/Yeshiva University and Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Feldman is the Program Director of the Clinical Psychology (Health Emphasis) Ph.D. Program at Ferkauf. He is a licensed clinical psychologist in New York State. The goal of Dr. Feldman’s research program is to develop behavioral interventions to reduce disparities in asthma outcomes in racial and ethnic minority patients with asthma. Dr. Feldman developed a behavioral intervention focusing on peak expiratory flow feedback as a mechanism to elicit improved asthma symptom perception and self-management. Dr. Feldman also developed and culturally adapted for Latinos an intervention for asthma and panic disorder that combined cognitive behavior therapy, biofeedback, and education to differentiate between panic and asthma symptoms. Dr. Feldman’s ongoing research program involves conducting randomized controlled trials of peak expiratory flow feedback for children and older adults with asthma.
