COPD Educator Course – ALA

The COPD Educator Course, through the American Lung Association is a three partial-day course that provides healthcare professionals with a thorough overview of COPD information to better support their patients living with COPD. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema, is a chronic lung disease that makes it hard to breathe. The disease is increasingly common, affecting millions of Americans, and is the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. The good news is COPD is often preventable and treatable.

Course sessions will cover:

  • Diagnosis and Management
  • Spirometry
  • Pharmacology
  • Medication Delivery Devices
  • Oxygen Therapy
  • Patient Activation
  • Education and Adherence
  • Tobacco Cessation
  • Pulmonary Rehabilitation
  • Readmissions
  • Palliative Care and Hospice

October 17, 22, and 24, 2024 – 10:00 a.m. CT to 4:00 p.m. CT each day

Registration Fee: $300 – Early bird rate offered through September 15, 2024.

Continuing Education

The COPD Educator Course is designed to meet continuing education requirements for a variety of healthcare professionals. This course is ideal for respiratory therapists, internal medicine nurses, pulmonary nurses, pharmacists, and care managers. CEUs and CMEs will be offered for participating in the live course.
